Bishopbriggs Bowling Club (The Club) will be a “controller” of the personal information that you provide to us.
When you join as a member of ‘The Club’ or renew your membership (including if you are registering or renewing on behalf of a child under the age of 18) we will ask you for the following information:
Why we need your personal information
We need to collect our members’ personal information that is both necessary and proportionate for the efficient management of your membership. We will use our members’ personal information to:

If you do not provide us with all the personal information that we need to collect then this may affect our ability to offer the above membership services.
Having provided the personal information individual members can subsequently request ‘The Club’ to stop sending them Club newsletters or communications by contacting the Club Secretary in writing.
Why we need your personal information - legitimate purposes
We will process, where appropriate, our members personal information to develop and maintain our members qualifications for:
Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 (PVG)
We are under a legal obligation to process certain information relating to our members for the purpose of complying with our obligations under to check that our coaches and volunteers are able to undertake work with children.
Catering Hygiene and Bar Work
Where we process your personal information in pursuit of our legitimate interests, you have the right to object to “The Club” using your personal information for the above purposes. This would be done by informing the Club Secretary.
Who we share your personal information with
We may be required to share personal information with statutory or regulatory authorities and organisations to comply with statutory obligations e.g. Health and Safety Executive, Disclosure Scotland and Police Scotland for the purposes of safeguarding children.
As an affiliated club of Scotland SGB we are required to ensure that all of our members are members of Scotland SGB as a condition of affiliation. We will share your name and membership category with SGB, who will become a controller of your personal information when they receive it.
We will publish the results of our competitions on our website www.bisopbriggsbowling club.co.uk and these may include members’ names and an indication of age category. Images captured from Club competitions and events may also be shown on the website.
How we protect your information
Your personal information is stored on our electronic systems run by the Club Secretary and the Ladies Secretary. Hard copies will be held in secure locations.
Other information in relation to statutory or regulatory authorities and organisations will also be held separately in secure locations by the Child Protection Officer, Junior Convener and Bar Convener.
How long do we keep your personal information
We will only keep your personal information for as long as necessary to provide you with membership services. Unless you ask us not to, we will review and possibly delete your personal information where you have not renewed your membership with us for six years.

- facilitate internal Club communications – for avoidance of doubt, email addresses will only be used for internal Club business and will not be made available to any external bodies;
- provide internal members telephone contact lists* (Gents and Ladies) to facilitate the arranging of Club ties and other Club business;
- send you membership communications by post or email in relation to essential membership services, including but not limited to, membership renewals and information relating to ‘The Club’ ’s Annual General Meeting;
- send you membership communications by post or email in relation to non-essential updates which are considered of interest to the membership – this may include a newsletter covering activities of ‘The Club’ displaying images captured from club competitions and events.
